Three Dead, Six Wounded Since Wednesday Morning

CHICAGO — Three people have been killed and 6 have been wounded in shootings since Wednesday morning, police said.

The most recent homicide occurred around 11:50 p.m. in Austin. Around 7:50 p.m., a 21-year-old man was also fatally shot in Austin.

Wednesday afternoon, two teens were shot, one fatally, in Belmont Cragin.

In the most recent non-fatal shooting, a 16-year-old boy was shot in South Chicago around 12:05 a.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The boy was in the 9100 block of South Burley Avenue when he got into a fight with a man and was grazed in his chest. He was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

Around 10:38 p.m., two 17-year-olds were shot while getting into a car in the 8300 block of South Kerfoot Avenue in Auburn Gresham. One of the boys was struck in his head and listed in serious condition at Christ Hospital. The other boy was stuck in his arm and in good condition at Holy Cross Hospital, Estrada said.

Around 10:32 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in his pelvis when a man got out of a silver Pontiac and opened fire in the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue in Bronzeville. The teen was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

About an hour earlier, a 33-year-old man was shot in the right leg while he was in the 200 block of West 37th Street in Armour Square. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
