SOUTH SHORE — A man is seriously hurt after being shot in South Shore Tuesday afternoon, police said. The incident marks the sixth shooting in the South Side neighborhood since 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The 27-year-old was standing on the sidewalk at the corner of 73th Street and South Jeffrey Boulevard, arguing with two other men, according to Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman. At around 1 p.m., one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the 27-year-old in the stomach, Zala said.
The man was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he's now in critical condition, Zala said.
The scene was six blocks away from the scene of another shooting from Tuesday morning, which left a man dead from gunshots to the chest and abdomen.
On Monday evening, two shootings in the neighborhood left a 16-year-old boy dead and three other men wounded.
