SOUTHPORT CORRIDOR — Get your apple turnovers and Butterfinger blondies while you can, because come Aug. 1, Southport Avenue will be a little less sweet.

Ten years after opening at 3751 N. Southport Ave., Sensational Bites will close in August, its owner announced this past weekend. On Sunday, a sign was posted in the storefront window thanking customers for years of patronage.

"I will be moving on to the next chapter of my life. Although, I will miss this world, I am looking forward to what lies ahead for my family and me," wrote owner Gina Sedivy.

The dessert cafe offered coffee and tea in addition to its wide range of delectable desserts, cupcakes, pies and cookies.

Sedivy's exit follows the February closure of nearby eatery Cullen's Bar.

Her full message reads:

Sensational Bites will be closing our doors on Saturday, August 1, 2015.

I would like to thank all of our customers, neighbors and friends for 10 wonderful years of business. I have enjoyed being a part of your lives by serving up wonderful desserts for you.

I will be moving on to the next chapter of my life. Although, I will miss this world, I am looking forward to what lies ahead for my family and me.

I want to thank the wonderful people who I have worked with at Sensational Bites for all their hard work and dedication as well as my family and friends for all their loves and support. I could not have made it this long without you!
