CHICAGO — Four men were wounded in gun fire on the South and West Sides, since Friday night, police said.

In South Shore, a 23-year-old man was shot by police after allegedly pointing a gun at officers.

Most recently, a 37-year-old man was walking in the 5700 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue in Austin around 2:15 a.m., when a man exited a vehicle and began firing shots, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was shot in his forearm and taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

Several hours earlier in Woodlawn, a 23-year-old man was walking in the 6400 block of South Vernon Avenue when a man walked out of a gangway and began firing shots, striking the man in his leg around 11:20 p.m., Estrada said.

The man was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital by a friend where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

Police said the man had gang ties and were investigating whether the shooting was gang related.

In West Pullman around 5:40 p.m., a 21-year-old man was walking in the 11800 block of South Perry Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Estrada said.

The man was shot in his hip and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

According to police, the man is a documented gang member.
