WICKER PARK — For folks who miss the healthy options at Skewers, a Caribbean-themed eatery that was replaced by Stan's Donuts, a fast expanding Texas-based grab-and-go chain could be headed to a prime spot in Wicker Park's main hub, sources have confirmed.

Snap Kitchen, which opened its Lincoln Park spot at 1534 N. Halsted St. on Wednesday, is also planning to open soon at 621 W. Diversey in Lakeview and 211 W. Adams St. in the Loop.

"There is nothing written in stone yet, but they did sign a letter of intent [to lease 1566 N. Damen Ave.] and are growing," a Snap Kitchen spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Snap Kitchen's grab-and-go meals center on healthy, organic ingredients and cater to vegetarian, vegan, Paleo and other diets.

The Damen Avenue-facing storefront, empty for just a few months, is next to Flash Taco and was part of the former City Soles, a shoe store that relocated to 1514 N. Milwaukee Ave. in April.

City Soles also rented a North Avenue-facing spot in the same corner, triangular-shaped building. That spot is adjacent to a tiny Starbucks Coffee that has been rumored to be expanding.

Marshall Black, the building's landlord, declined to comment on a possible Starbuck's expansion and was not immediately available to talk about Snap Kitchen.

Snap Kitchen launched in 2010 and has grown to 21 locations. The new Chicago Snap Kitchens are the first outside of Texas, the company said in a news release.

Snap Kitchen offers health-mindful meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, ranging from bison quinoa hash to chicken sausage breakfast tacos. Soups, salads and desserts are also offered, like spicy coconut chicken soup and goat cheese cheesecake.

For something smaller, Snap Kitchen offers juices, smoothies and snacks, like roasted almonds or almond-crusted chicken strips.

Entree prices will range from $8-14, while snack prices typically fall in the $1-5 range.

Snap Kitchen's online menu prominently displays each item's calories, ingredients and other nutrition information. Each item also lists whether it is gluten-free, carbohydrate-conscious, sodium-conscious, Paleo, plant-powered, vegan, vegetarian or non-dairy.

To promote the grand opening of its first three Chicago spots, Snap Kitchen is offering a free entree to the first 10,000 people to complete a short informational form.
