CHICAGO — A 19-year-old North Side man died of a likely overdose after the Spring Awakening music festival Saturday at Soldier Field, officials said.

Police were called to Mercy Hospital Sunday around 2 p.m. Sunday for the death of Steve Vongkoth, 19, of the 6200 block of North Keystone Avenue, according to Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Vongkoth had been taken to Mercy Hospital Saturday night around 11:05 p.m. Saturday from outside Soldier Field, Estrada said.

He was pronounced dead at 9:52 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Preliminary information said Vongkoth had ingested drugs before his death, but police are waiting for the results of the autopsy, Estrada said.
