One Killed, 11 Wounded Since Tuesday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings across the city since Tuesday morning have left a 19-year-old man dead and 11 people wounded including an 11-year-old shot in Austin Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.

Around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, two people were shot in the 1800 block of North Monitor Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Both were taken to West Suburban Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized. One of the men, 19, was shot in his arm and the other, a "male juvenile" was shot in his buttocks, Estrada said.

While police didn't have an age of the second victim, the Tribune reports the boy was 11.

Most recently, a 19-year-old man walked into Illinois Masonic Medical Center after being shot in both of his legs. The man was uncooperative with police, but in good condition, Estrada said.

A 21-year-old man was sitting in his car in the 7100 block of South Western Avenue in Chicago Lawn when another car pulled up and a man opened fire around 2 a.m. The man was shot in his leg and his condition was stabilized on the scene, Estrada said.

A half hour earlier, a 31-year-old man was shot on Lake Shore Drive in the Gold Coast.

Around 1 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was shot in both of her legs while standing on the sidewalk in the 12300 block of South Normal Avenue in West Pullman. She was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

A 29-year-old man was shot in his arm and leg during a drive-by shooting in Back of the Yards around 11 p.m. The man was walking in the 5300 block of South Justine Street when someone opened fire from a black car. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

Around 3:11 p.m., a 21-year-old man and 22-year-old man were shot in their chests in Humboldt Park. The 22-year-old was left in critical condition after the shooting.

Two men were shot in the 5900 block of West Augusta Boulevard in Austin around the same time as the Humboldt Park shooting.

A 34-year-old man was shot in his arm and a 19-year-old man was shot in his leg. Both men were uncooperative, but taken to Loretto Hospital, where their condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
