Gage Park Shooting Leaves Man Dead Early Wednesday

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was fatally shot early Wednesday morning while walking down the street in Gage Park, police said.

Around 12:45 a.m., the man was in the 5600 South Artesian Avenue when a man walked up to him and opened fire, striking him multiple times in his back, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene and no one is in custody for the shooting, Estrada said.

He was identified as Devonte Terry, of the same block, and pronounced dead at 1:04 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
