CHICAGO — A Kenwood man was charged for a Greater Grand Crossing homicide last month, police said.

Romell V. Outlaw, 25, of the 4500 block of South Drexel Boulevard, is facing one count of first degree murder, and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, police said in statement.

Outlaw was identified as the man responsible for fatally shooting a 37-year-old man on April 2, according to police.

The man was later identified as Juan Simpson, of the 6900 block of South Indiana Avenue.

Around 8:25 p.m., Simpson was standing in the 100 block of East 69th Street, when he was shot in his back. He was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital where he was later pronounced, police said.

Outlaw is set to appear in bond court Saturday.
