CHICAGO — Two teens were among four new victims of gun violence Saturday afternoon, police said. The shootings bring the weekend total so far into the twenties, including at least one fatality.

Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman, said around 12 p.m. a 15-year-old boy and 26-year-old man were left in critical condition after being shot in the 1400 block of North Springfield Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The boy was shot three times in his groin, while the man was badly wounded in his stomach, hip and leg. Both were taken to Norwegian American Hospital by family members, Sweeney said.

About an hour earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot at 10:55 a.m. while walking in the 3900 block of South Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville. The shooter, a man, approached him and shot him in his hand and back, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, Sweeney said.

Police said a second victim in the shooting, a 17-year-old, took himself to the University of Chicago Medical Center shortly thereafter, with a graze wound to his left torso. He was listed as being in good condition, according to Sweeney.
