ROGERS PARK — On the eve of her graduation, Loyola University senior Victoria Biondo, alongside her mother, swept into a dustpan what remained of her Nissan Pathfinder's rear window after it was shot out on a quiet Rogers Park street.

Neighbors said someone in a car fired shots about 5 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Columbia Avenue, a half-block from Starbucks to the east and Lazarus Playlot to the west.

Police could not immediately confirm any details about what happened. Officers on the scene investigated the car and taped off the block before leaving about 6:10 p.m.

"It sounded like pop rocks going off," and Jocelyn Biondo, who was visiting for her daughter's graduation from Loyola Wednesday. "She said this never happens. But what are you gonna do. I'm glad no one was hurt."

Biondo said after hearing the shots, she looked outside toward the street from inside her daughter's apartment of four years and saw a white SUV leaving the scene.
