BACK OF THE YARDS — The Plant is inviting the neighborhood to learn about sustainable business practices while sampling food from its many businesses at a tasting tour Saturday.

The special open house, which begins at 10 a.m., will offer a rare peek inside the former meatpacking plant at 1400 W. 46th St., taking you to various food production areas where business owners will explain their products and offer samples.

The tour includes stops at several aquaponic farms, a kombucha brewery, bakeries, cheese distributors and a shrimp farm, among other businesses. Tickets to the event are available here for $12.

After the tour, you can also buy products from guest vendors along with tenants at The Plant's monthly market.
