MORGAN PARK — The Chicago Blackhawks recent streak of winning late-night games could cost Raleigh Kean Jr. a lot of coffee.

Not that the owner of Kean Bros. in Morgan Park would mind.

The full-service gas station has promised free, 16-ounce cups of coffee and pop "when Hawks eliminate Preds." The promotion is advertised just below the cost of a gallon of gas on the station's sign at 2632 W. 111th St. in Morgan Park.

The Blackhawks lead the Nashville Predators 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. The first-round NHL Playoff matchup continues at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

The most recent game between the two teams was decided in triple overtime and ended at 1:16 a.m. Wednesday morning. Kean, a Blackhawks fan, stayed up for the conclusion of the marathon game and admitted to being groggy on Wednesday afternoon.

Another early-morning finish like that for the Hawks could really have people swarming in for some caffeine — especially if it's free.

"I did this without thinking too far in advance," Kean said.

Still, he said he'll be happy to doll out coffee and pop to fellow fans if the Hawks win the series tonight. He also promises to dream up another promotion should the hockey team advance into the next round.

"I'm just trying to get a little buzz in the neighborhood," he said.
