Community Alert Issued for Logan Square, Avondale, Wicker Park Businesses

LOGAN SQUARE — A community alert has been issued for businesses in Wicker Park and along the border of Logan Square and Avondale after a string of burglaries in March and April.

In the burglaries, unknown suspects forcibly enter a business by smashing or prying open a door or drive-thru service window, police said Tuesday.

Incidents were recorded at the following locations:

• 1500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on March 18 between 12:15 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.
• 2800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on April 2 at 10:35 p.m.
• 2800 block of West North Avenue on April 7 between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.
• 1300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on April 8 between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

What you can do, according to police:

• Be aware of this crime and alert other businesses in the area.
• Employees should call 911 to report any suspicious person(s) that may be lingering around their business.
• Business owners should ensure that their business equipped with a working video surveillance system and hold up alarm.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information.
