CHICAGO — One man is dead and another was seriously wounded in a shooting Friday night, police said.

At 10:50 p.m., the two men, ages 35 and 36, were sitting in a car in the 1100 block of North Springfield Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots in their direction, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The 36 year old was shot in his chest and the 35 year old was shot in his neck. They drove themselves to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, Sedevic said.

The two men were later transferred to John H. Stroger Hospital where the 36 year old was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The 35 year old's condition had since stabilized, Sedevic said.

Courtney Jackson, 36, of the 1400 block of North Lotus Avenue was pronounced deat at 1:21 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

No one is in custody and police are investigating.
