WICKER PARK — A woman riding in a cab early Sunday in Wicker Park was hit by gunfire, police say.

The victim, described as a 35-year-old woman, was listed in good condition.

Police said the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. during a taxi ride in the 1200 block of North Damen Avenue. The woman was shot in the arm.

She was taken taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center.

No one is currently in custody.

The Tribune reported that the shots came from alley off Damen Ave. and went through the cab door.

A police source said the victim was not believed to have been the intended target.

Authorities used police tape to cordon off a nearby Shell gas station at Damen Ave. and Division Street to search for evidence.

In December, a man armed with a gun and wearing a reflective vest attempted to rob the station. The clerk had a hard time opening the register and the robber fired one shot and ran. No one was injured in that robbery attempt.
