CHICAGO — Three people were hospitalized in separate shootings on the South and West sides Friday afternoon.

Most recently, an 18-year-old man was shot while sitting in a car in the 9200 block of South Langley Avenue in Chatham, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Christ Hospital, where his condition was stabilized after being shot in his left leg. The shooting occurred at 2:37 p.m., Zala said.

Around 1 p.m., a 34-year-old woman was shot in her buttocks while sitting outside in the 900 block of East 131st Street on the Far South Side, Zala said.

She was taken to Christ in good condition, Zala said.

About an hour before, an 18-year-old man was hospitalized after shooting himself in North Lawndale, Zala said.

Around 1:08 p.m., the man shot himself in the left leg while he was in the 1800 block of South Kedzie Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition was stabilized, Zala said.

The man is in police custody and charges are pending, Zala said.
