BOYSTOWN — Managers of Manhole are hopeful the third time will be the charm for the iconic leather bar, which will reopen after an abrupt December closure.

The opening — which does not yet have a set date — will be the third for Manhole, a leather bar complete with a dance floor and lounge.

"We look forward to revising the schedule for Manhole, expanding elements of the look and feel, as well as to making changes to improve our guests' enjoyment of our space," said AK Miller, who helped open Manhole last year.

Manhole will return to its location at 3200 N. Halsted St. at Belmont Avenue, along with a second, new venue that will replace Whiskey Trust. The building was the former long-time home of Spin nightclub, which closed Memorial Day 2014 after 15 years.

Following the closure, Whiskey Trust and '80s-inspired dance club Chloe's opened June 19. Two months later, LKH Management took over daily operations from owner Jason Zilberbrand.

LKH — which also developed Hydrate, Replay, Elixir and Halsted's — rebranded Chloe's as Manhole, which opened Sept. 18. The original Manhole dance club was located at 3458 N. Halsted St. and closed in 2002, at which point LKH converted it to Hydrate.

Spin's former owner, David Gassman, reacquired the 3200 N. Halsted St. location following the December closure, LKH said Tuesday. Gassman is partnering with LKH Management for the reopening, and two staff members who helped open Manhole last year are returning to the team.

"I have a great deal of respect for Dave Gassman and his long history of support in our community," said Mark Liberson, president of LKH Management.
