Winter in Chicago is Dead To Us: Let Spring 2015 Begin

By DNAinfo Staff | March 7, 2015 1:32pm | Updated on March 9, 2015 11:02am

LINCOLN SQUARE — The mid-40s have never felt so good. After a cold February and a frosty start to March, our forecast of temps in the 40s and 50s is making us downright giddy. Though a meteorologist urged us not to get our hopes up yet, it's too late.

Our hopes are up. And this is why.

1. Rainbow Cone Is Open For The Season: The Beverly ice cream spot reopened Saturday at noon and wise Chicagoan Scott Smith got in on the action immediately:

"I declare victory over winter," Smith tweeted. Photo: Scott Smith

2. The 10-day Forecast: Look at this forecast! It's awesome. Spolier alert: It's supposed to be 50 Monday the 15th as well.

3. The Big Star Patio Is Open: You can drink margaritas and eat tacos outside TODAY. And if it gets a little chilly, there are heat lamps. Soak up that sun.

4. Spring Training Is Happening: Yes, our baseball teams tend to lose quite a bit. But every year the winter makes us forget that and we'll still flock to Wrigley and the Cell in a mere four weeks (five for the Sox)!

5. ALL Car Washes Are Packed: Did you try to get your salt-covered car wash today? So did everyone else.

6. Scooter's Frozen Custard is BACK: If you can't make it to Beverly for a Rainbow Cone (though it is worth the trip), hit up Scooter's in Lakeview, which re-opened Friday. You know we hit that up already...
