LINCOLN PARK — The Green City Market has a new head honcho.

Melissa Flynn was name the executive director of the 16-year-old market this week.

"Melissa's passion for sustainability is the perfect fit for the market," said Sarah Stegner, co-president of the Green City Market board.

Flynn takes over a growing market, as Green City expanded to a second location in the West Loop last fall.

Flynn was most recently the managing partner of MJF Partners LLC, focusing on helping small businesses and non-profits in strategic planning, internal restructuring and identifying key collaboration and marketing opportunities.

She was also executive director of the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce for eight years.

"This is a very exciting time to be working in the field of sustainability and urban agriculture and I cannot think of a better place to do so than the Green City Market," Flynn said.

Last summer Flynn launched a kids camp with a focus on urban agriculture and the farm-to-table movement.

Flynn has a master's degree in human resources from Loyola University and is a graduate of the Institute of Organization Management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
