LOGAN SQUARE — A new restaurant serving banh mi and pho is making its way to Logan Square, a neighborhood sorely lacking in Vietnamese cuisine.

According to the owners of Bahn Mi Baget, that was a big reason behind the launch of their sixth location at 2735 N. Milwaukee Ave. this winter.

"The Logan Square area seemed to be lacking a concept for our healthy foods, including vegan and vegetarian options for all of our menu items,” read an announcement that named the shop's franchise operator's Eddie Serrano and Joe Rodriguez who bought the new Banh Mi Baget franchise from owner Le Trinh.

The “restaurant brings the concept of simple, fresh and healthy authentic Vietnamese flavors into a pillow soft French baguette with a crispy crust,” according to the announcement, noting pho, BBQ pork and lemongrass chicken sandwiches as a few specialties.

The Logan Square location is also much larger than Banh Mi's five other Chicago sites, with seating for about 50 people. Managers of the restaurant said they expect to open this week in Logan Square.
