CHICAGO — It's almost over: the political commercials, the mailers littering the floor of your vestibule, the bizarre radio ads linking red light camera tickets to divorce — they'll all be donezo after the election Feb. 24.
If you haven't been following the city elections, we don't blame you. With hundreds of candidates in 50 often-gerrymandered wards, it's hard to know who is representing you most of the time.
Well, you're in luck. Below you can find out who your alderman is, who is running against them and some basic facts about them. Maybe you'll be so charmed by someone that you'll actually vote and we can avoid the pathetic 42 percent turnout we had in 2011.
So if you've complained (or cheered) about potholes, snow removal, taxes or red light cameras, you should probably head to the polls on Feb. 24. You can even save the images, linked below, onto your smartphone and bring them into the polls.
But before you do — check your voter registration status online with the Board of Election Commissioners to avoid a surprise on election day.
