CHICAGO — We might be in the Midwest, but that doesn't mean we don't have lots of leather in our closets.

Chicago was named the fourth kinkiest city in America by the very NSFW sex site Kink.com. The good folks at Queerty rounded up the full list, so you won't get fired for checking it out at work.

What makes Chicago so kinky? Leather culture has a lot to do with it.

The city has hosted International Mr. and Ms. Leather contests since 1979, which bring BDSM folks from all over the country here annually.

"Leather culture as we know it was born at Chicago’s Gold Coast bar in the late 1950s," the site says. "And the city has hosted the International Mr. and Ms. Leather contests since 1979. In fact, the annual contest may even best San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair as the highest of the kink high holidays.

"Throw in the Leather Archives and Museum, a thriving dungeon scene (including GD2, Continuum, The Studio) and a wealth of professional resources for both LGBT and kink-identified populations, you’ve got hell on earth … in the best possible way,” according to the site.

To make the Top 10 list, the site rounded up the city's active population on Fetlife, a social network for kinky folks, the percentage of locals who identify as kinky, the number of "kink-aware professionals" and by Kink.com "porn purchase data."
