CHICAGO — Employees of several businesses housed in the United Center will soon have a new office building from which to operate.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks officials announced construction will begin soon on a new office building that will house employees of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Levy Restaurants and the United Center.

The new facility is part of $400 million in public and private investments planned for the Near West Side, which includes improvements along the Blue Line, the Union Park Playground, streetscapes and resurfacing projects.

Construction of the facility will create up to 300 jobs, city officials said.

The Sun-Times has reported the building would go on the eastern portion of the stadium parking lot.
