CHICAGO — Two men were killed Saturday night while crossing the street in Hermosa.

Around 10:10 p.m., the two men were using the crosswalk to cross the street in the 4300 block of West North Avenue when they were struck by a 2002 Buick, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

One of the men was unresponsive on the scene and was pronounced dead. The other man was taken to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was also pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The victims were identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Raman Cruz, 36, and Pablo Esquivel-Vega, who was in his 50s.

The driver of the Buick, a 24-year-old man, fled the scene crashing into three parked cars at the intersection of North Avenue and Kedvale Avenue, Sedevic said.

He is now in custody and charges are pending against the man, Sedevic said.
