CHICAGO — Frozen treats, free cake and fried chicken with a pair of ice skates should be on your menu this weekend.

• It's going to warm up this weekend, so why not go out for frozen custard?

Four years after opening its first frozen treats place in Edgewater, Lickity Split opened its West Rogers Park outpost Monday.

Of course, it was in the midst of the coldest and worst weather we've had this winter, but co-owner Ken Anderson couldn't wait.

"At least the sun's shining, so we'll take that," Anderson said at the opening.

The spot serves all of the cold favorites from the original location, but for those looking for something warmer, there is espresso, hot cider and warm pastries as well.

Lickity Split, 7000 N. Western Ave.

• There's a new addition to the menu at Umami Burger, a burger chain imported from California to Wicker Park.

The Throwback Burger combines two Umami beef patties, white cheddar cheese, house made ketchup, miso mustard, soy pickles and minced onions.

The burger is an homage to the classic double cheeseburger. At $8, it's the cheapest on the menu.

• This suggestion is not so much about food and drink, but the simple fact that you can go ice skating at a restaurant.

The ice rink at Parson's Chicken & Fish has finally frozen over and open for skating at $5 per person. (Skate rentals are extra.)

Of course, the food and drink is good at Parson's too. In warmer weather, we'd suggest the frozen Negronis, but the spiked hot cider might be more weather-appropriate.

• Free cake!

On Saturday, the Chicago French Market will celebrate a late Epiphany with free Three Kings Cake.

The crusty round cakes, called galette in France, will be served from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the market.
