CHICAGO — Five people died and at least 11 people were wounded in shootings on the West and South sides Tuesday.

The most recent shooting occurred at 10:45 p.m. when police on patrol witnessed an apparent robbery in the 2200 block of South Marshall Avenue in Little Village, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

After a 28-year-old gunman struck his victim in the back, police chased and shot at robber.

The suspect was eventually arrested and charges are pending.

Aside from the victim, who was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, no one else was injured in the incident.

In other non-fatal shootings:

• In Tri-Taylor at 10 p.m., a 33-year-old man standing in the alley was shot by someone who walked up to him, Sedevic said. The man, shot in his right thigh, was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

• Two men, 20 and 26, were shot in Woodlawn about 8:50 p.m., Sedevic said.

The younger man was taken to Stroger after being shot in his abdomen while the older man was shot in his back and taken to Northwestern.

The incident occurred in the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue.

• Five minutes earlier in Humboldt Park, a 30-year-old man was shot in his hip and took himself to Mount Sinani, Sedevic said. He said he was standing in a parking lot in the 3700 block of West Chicago Avenue when he was approached by four men who fired at him.

• In Auburn Gresham at 8:38 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in both legs by someone who fired from a car in the 7700 block of South May Street, Sedevic said. The wounded man was taken to Stroger in good condition.

• At 7:30 p.m. in Humboldt Park, a 17-year-old boy was shot in his leg and took himself to Saint Mary's Hospital, Sedevic said. The incident occurred in the 600 block of North Homan Avenue.

• Two men, 34 and 39, were shot at 1:50 p.m. in Chatham Tuesday afternoon, Sedevic said. The incident occurred in the 800 block of East 87th Place. The younger man took himself to Jackson Park Hospital after being shot in his lower abdomen. The older man went to Advocate Christ Medical Center after being shot in his upper leg.

• A 25-year-old man was standing outside in the 900 block of West 87th Street in Auburn Gresham when he was shot in his right leg, Sedevic said. He was taken to Christ in stable condition following the 10 a.m. shooting.

• A 22-year-old man was shot in a West Englewood alley from a passing car, Sedevic said. He took himself to Holy Cross Hospital after being shot in his leg. The incident occurred at 9:40 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Winchester Avenue.

• An 18-year-old man was also shot about 5:05 a.m. in Austin.

In fatal shootings:

• A 20-year-old man was killed in Auburn Gresham.

• Hakizimana Scott, 38, was found sitting in the driver's seat of a car in Austin after being shot in his head.

• Abraham Cooper, 19, was also fatally shot in Austin.

• Glenn Houston Jr., 23, was killed in a shooting that occurred in a Grand Crossing store.

• Youman Mckenzie, 23, was killed in a East Garfield Park shootout.
