Things You Can Do in Lincoln Park and Old Town This Weekend

Friday

Spanish Through Nature at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive, 10-11 a.m.

This experimental interactive class will teach children ages 1-4 Spanish vocabulary through song, movement and laughter. The class, which is presented in partnership with Instituto Cervantes, costs $100 for a seven-week session if you're a member and $140 for non-members. A single class is just $20.

Triple bill at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 7 p.m.

1833 brings three performances to the Lincoln Hall stage Friday including: Tokwio with Savemoney, Lucki Eck$, Hurt Everybody and special guests. Tickets to the all ages show are $10.

Saturday

Take a book, Bring a Book at Bourgeois Pig Cafe, 738 W. Fullerton Pkwy., 11 a.m.

Stop by and meet the two young Girl Scouts who built a charming little free library opening on the cafe patio. Learn how the library, a gift from Lincoln Park Village and Girl Scout Troop 20469, was built in a basement carpentry shop on Geneva Terrace.

Butterfly Haven Yoga at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Dr., 8:30- 9:45 a.m.

Head to the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven for a rejuvenating yoga class. Mats are not provided and you must register to participate. The class costs $15.

Creation Corner at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Head to the Nature Museum for the monthly "make and take" project. All materials are provided and the projects can be done on a drop-by basis. A snow globe is the project for Saturday and costs $5.

Each month the Nature Museum highlights a nature-related topic to explore through experiments, crafts and activities. December's topic is recording nature. Visitors of all ages can learn techniques for observing nature. The event is free with museum admission.

Sunday

Family Polar Party at Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N. Clark St., 3:30-5 p.m.

Hang with the hibernating bears, blubbery seals and reptiles to learn how they deal with frigid temperatures. Tickets are $8 for members or $10 for non-members.
