OLD TOWN — The Second City's annual star-packed improv and music marathon fundraiser marks a special anniversary this year, the 55th birthday of the famed comedy club.

"The Second City That Never Sleeps: 24 Hours" marathon will feature music by James McCartney, Kim Deal, J.C. Brooks & The Uptown Sound with Ian Rubbish as well as the usual fan-favorite Jeff Tweedy.

Special guests include Steve Albini, "Portlandia"'s Fred Armisen and Natasha Lyonne from "Orange is the New Black."

The 24-hour event is set to kick off at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 and run through 6 p.m. Dec. 17 in The Second City e.t.c. Theatre, 1608 N. Wells St.

Other musical guests include Bobby, Holly & the Ricketts, Renaldo Domino and Robbie Fulks.

Live improv will be provided by Second City's cast. The event usually brings in big name alumni as well.

There will be several one-of-a-kind items up for auction at the event including two sets of tickets for two to "Saturday Night Live."

Tickets to "The Second City That Never Sleeps: 24 Hours" are $20 and will be sold at the door throughout the event as long as seats are available.

Proceeds from the show will support families from Chicago's Onward Neighborhood House.
