CHICAGO — A 50-year-old man was shot during a robbery Thursday night in West Garfield Park.

Around 9:40 p.m., the 50-year-old was walking in the 400 block of West Normal Parkway when he was approached by a man with a gubn who began robbing him, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

During the struggle, the man was shot in his left leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, said Estrada.

The thief got away with an unknown amount of cash, Estrada said. No one is in custody.

The man was the fifth person shot in citywide violence on Thanksgiving, police said.
