LINCOLN PARK — Snarf's Sandwiches is planning to open its first Lincoln Park location this week.

The shop, which specializes in toasted subs, is set to open its first of two neighborhood locations at 2201 N. Lincoln Ave. Wednesday.

The Lincoln Park location will also have an ice cream and shakes bar.

The Colorado-based business is planning to open a second location in the neighborhood at 955 W. Webster Ave. in early 2015. The plans were originally announced in the spring, with the goal of opening by the end of the summer.

Snarf's made headlines last year for firing the staff of its River North location by email three days before Christmas. The workers protested, and were hired back and given back pay.

The company already has two Downtown locations, one in Prudential Plaza and another at 600 W. Chicago Ave.

Each restaurant has a unique mural, and the newest location's takes inspiration from nearby Oz Park with a yellow brick road.
