Burglars Hit Seven Homes in Hyde Park and Grand Boulevard, Police Say

HYDE PARK — Police are warning residents to keep their doors and windows locked after a string of seven burglaries between Oct. 15 and Nov. 7.

Four homes were robbed in Hyde Park and Kenwood and three other homes were robbed in Grand Boulevard.

All the burglaries happened during the day when the homes were empty, according to police. The burglars entered through the back door or basement in all cases, according to police.

The burglaries include homes that were broken into on Oct. 15 on the 5100 block of South Kimbark Avenue and 5600 block of South Prairie Avenue; Oct. 16 on the 5100 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard; Oct. 17 on the 5300 block of South Calumet Avenue; Oct. 21 on the 4300 block of South Kimbark Avenue; Nov. 4 on the 5400 block of South Woodlawn Avenue; and Nov. 7 on the 5600 block of South Indiana Avenue.

Police are encouraging homeowners to keep their homes well lit, and, if your home is broken into, to not touch anything and call police immediately.
