CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy has been charged with two Hyde Park sexual assaults, including one on Halloween of a woman jogging along the lakefront.

The teen, whose name was withheld, is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and a misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice.

In the first attack, which took place on Halloween, a 58-year-old woman was jogging in the 5700 block of South Lake Shore Drive about 11:10 a.m when an assailant approached her from behind, police said.

The attacker grabbed her and pulled her to the ground in a "semi-secluded area before physically restraining and sexually assaulting her," police said.

The second attack took place about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon in the 5800 block of South Lake Shore Drive. The teen attacked and sexually assaulted a 55-year-old woman and took her cellphone, police said.

Responding officers found the teen a short distance away, and he was identified as the women's attacker, police said.

The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medicine, where she was treated for her injuries.

The teen is due in court Thursday.
