Six Wounded in City Shootings Thursday

CHICAGO — Six people were wounded, including two teenage boys and two teenage girls, in shootings across the South and West sides Thursday.

Around  7:30 p.m., two men were shot in the 1400 block of West 72nd Street.

Police responded to a shooting in South Shore when they discovered the two victims. A 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and an 18-year-old shot was in the wrist, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Both men were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the 19-year-old man was listed in grave condition and the 18-year-old was listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

The incident appeared to be gang-related police said.

About 6:40 p.m., three teenagers were shot in the 800 block of North St. Louis Avenue in Humboldt Park, said Sedevic.

At 11:11 a.m. an 18-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in his back, Sedevic said.

According to the victim, the shooting occurred in the 3200 block of West Flournoy Street, Sedevic said.

The man transferred himself from the East Garfield Park location to Mount Sinai, where his condition wasunknown, Sedevic added.

About 9:20 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in his face in the 6400 block of South King Drive, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, Pacheco added.

According to police, the man was a documented gang member.

Around 8:35 a.m., in the 3300 block of West Chicago Avenue, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the right shoulder, Pacheco said.

The victim was transported in "stable" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Pacheco said.

On Wednesday morning, two men were shot in the 7100 block of South Artesian Avenue in Marquette Park.

About 11:45 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in his head and a 39-year-old man was shot in his lower right leg, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The two men were standing on the sidewalk when a passenger in a blue sedan fired multiple shots before driving off, Lemmon said.

The 24-year-old man was taken to Christ in serious condition, while the 39-year-old man was transported to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Lemmon said.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings.
