Man, 18, in Custody for Logan Square Fire Early Wednesday

CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man is in custody after he started a fire in a vacant home in Logan Square early Wednesday, police said.

The fire started around 3:07 a.m. in a vacant home in the 3500 block of West Palmer Street and then spread to a neighboring home, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

One woman was treated by paramedics after escaping the home. The fire also displaced seven adults and 10 children, Pacheco said.

Charges are pending against the 18-year-old, Pacheco said.
