BUCKTOWN — Outdoor apparel store Stio is opening its first Chicago location in Bucktown in early 2015, company officials say.

Stio will soon call home a newly constructed, 1,470-square-foot shop at 1719 N. Damen Ave., the former location of clothing store Tangerine.

Based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Stio carries clothes that can be described as "mountain town cool meets technical backcountry function," according to a news release.

"Stio will be a welcome addition to the fashion mix on Damen," said Baum Realty Group Principal Janika Brenner, who represented the landlord, Real Estate Adventures, LLC.

"The brand appeals to men, women and children with active lifestyles — definitely the Bucktown neighborhood shopper."

Brenner worked on the lease with JLL Executive Vice President Lew Kornburg and Vice President Jason Press on behalf of Stio, according to the release.

The storefront sat empty for less than 90 days before it was snatched up by the Wyoming retailer, the release said.
