CHICAGO — Two men were killed and a police sergeant was hospitalized after a car struck a Lawndale restaurant Sunday night.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of West Ogden Avenue, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The two men were in a car that was speeding westbound on Ogden Avenue when it crashed into a squad car sitting in traffic. After hitting the back of the squad car, the men's car spun out of control and hit a building, Sedevic said.

The two men were unresponsive on the scene and pronounced dead a short time later. The sergeant was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, Sedevic said.

The men's ages were not available, Sedevic said.

According to the Tribune, the car struck Sanchez Tacos at 4001 W. Ogden Ave., leaving two workers and a customer with minor cuts.
