Shootings Leave At Least Two Dead, 10 Wounded Since Friday Evening

CHICAGO — Two men were killed in separate South Side shootings, and at least 10 others, including a 17-year-old boy, were injured by gunfire across the city since Friday evening.

Around 1 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Englewood.

About a half an hour earlier, police found a man, 21, dead in the backseat of a car in Roseland.

• The most recent non-fatal shooting happened about 4 p.m. in the 300 block of West 107th Street when a man was shot in the leg and foot during a drive-by shooting, police said.

He was taken in "stable" condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

• Around 2:35 a.m. in West Chatham, a man, 37, was walking in an alley in the 7500 block of South Wentworth Avenue when several men walked up and opened fire, striking hi m in his right buttocks, Lemmon said.

He is in stable condition after being transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Lemmon said.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.

• About 15 minutes earlier, three men were shot at a gas station in South Austin.

The men, ages 24, 19 and 21, were standing in the lot of a gas station in the 5100 block of West Madison Street when a man got out of a gray sedan and opened fire, Lemmon said.

The 24-year-old is in stable condition after being taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in his right torso. The 19-year-old is also in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital; he suffered a gunshot wound in his back.

The 21-year-old victim suffered a graze wound in his head, Lemmon said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he is listed in good condition.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating. 

• Around 12:50 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in Pullman.

He was was walking on the sidewalk in the 900 block of East 104th Street when a man walked up and fired shots, striking him in his right knee, Lemmon said.

The man was dropped off to Roseland Community Hospital by his friends, which is where he is listed in stable condition, Lemmon said.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.

• Earlier around 11:15 p.m. Friday, three men, ages 19, 18 and 18, were shot in Irving Park.

The men were walking on the sidewalk in the 3900 block of North Francisco Avenue when a green sedan drove past and someone from inside opened fire, Lemmon said.

The 19-year-old suffered from a gunshot wound to his left hip. One of the 18-year-olds was struck in his head, while the other was grazed in his head, Lemmon said.

All of the victims were transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, she said.

Both the 19-year-old and the 18-year-old who suffered from a graze wound are listed in stable condition, while the other 18-year-old is in serious condition.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.

• Earlier Friday evening, a 17-year-old boy was shot in his hip in Englewood.
