Bicyclist Shot in Logan Square

CHICAGO — A man was shot while riding his bicycle in Logan Square Thursday evening, police said.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man, 18, was riding his bicycle when a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt rode up next to him and fired shots, striking him in his leg, Pacheco said.

The shooter ran off, and the victim was taken to Norwegian Hospital where he is in stable condition, Pacheco said.

According to police, the victim has documented gang ties.

Detectives are investigating.
