LINCOLN PARK — Walgreens is preparing to open another Lincoln Park location in about a month.

Workers were installing the bright red Walgreens sign on the former Lincoln Park Market building Friday morning.

Walgreens has plans to open its newest location at 2500 N. Clark Street before Thanksgiving, according to company spokesman Phil Caruso.

Independent grocer Lincoln Park Market was a neighborhood staple at that location before closing in May 2013.

At the time, owner Bruce Longanecker said his business had been facing financial troubles due to the opening of Trader Joe's and Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.

Walgreens is leasing the 15,000-square-foot space, according to Crain's.

Another Walgreens is also under construction in Lincoln Park at 834 W. Armitage Ave.

That store will be inside a completely new building that is just starting to take shape.

A spokesman for Walgreens did not have an estimated opening date for the Armitage location.
