THE LOOP — Ross Dress for Less will open its first Downtown outpost Friday at 26 E. Randolph St.

The discount retailer specializes in apparel and home decor and has about 1,200 stores scattered across 33 states, according to a release. The 30,000-square-foot Downtown store, steps from the Randolph/Wabash CTA stop, will be the chain's first location in the central business district.

"Shoppers will now be able to find the latest styles at exceptional savings conveniently located in the Loop," Gary Cribb, executive vice president of stores and loss prevention at Ross Dress for Less, said in a release.

He added the chain was "excited to continue our expansion in the area with our first Downtown location" and called Chicago "an important market for Ross Dress for Less."

The chain has locations in Hyde Park and Pullman in the city.

The Loop store will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. Saturday, and will give away $2,000 in gift cards from Friday to Oct. 19 to shoppers who enter its raffle while in the store.

The chain is undergoing an expansion, adding 75 new locations, which will bring its Chicago-area store count to 41, including many suburban locations, according to a release.
