CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was killed and at least 16 others were injured in separate shootings on the South and West sides of the city since Friday evening.

The most recent shooting took place about 5:20 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Colfax Avenue in South Shore when a 23-year-old man was shot in the left side, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

The fatal shooting happened around 4:15 a.m. in the 4000 block of West Jackson Boulevard in Garfield Park, a neighborhood where seven people were shot within a four-hour stretch.

Earlier in West Garfield Park, three men were shot in the 3900 block of West Flournoy Street, according to police.

Around 2:42 a.m., three men, ages 33, 28 and 22, were walking northbound on Flournoy Street when someone from behind them opened fire, striking the 28-year-old in his leg, the 22-year-old in his arm and leg and grazing the 33-year-old in his chest, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

After being shot, the victims ran away, Estrada said.

All three victims were taken to Stroger Hospital where they are in good condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody.
