West Garfield Park Shooting Leaves Boy, 16, Dead

CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in West Garfield Park overnight.

Around 4:15 a.m., someone shot the boy in the 4000 block of West Jackson Boulevard, striking him in his torso, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

He was taken to Loretto Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said.

Police did not have any further information surrounding the shooting. 

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
