Armed Robbers Hit Near West Side, West Town, Police Say

CHICAGO — After three recent armed robberies on the Near West Side and in West Town, police are warning residents to stay alert.

In the incidents, men armed with a handgun approached victims and robbed them, police said.

The robberies occurred:

• In the 1400 block of West Hubbard Street about 9:15 p.m. Sept. 9.

• In the first block of North Bishop Street about 12:40 a.m. Sunday.

• In the first block of South Aberdeen Street about 1 a.m. Sunday.

The suspects are described as black men ages 17-26, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing 140 to 210 pounds, police said.

Police are urging residents to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity immediately. If confronted by an assailant, victims should remain calm, remember any unique physical characteristics of the robber and call 911 immediately.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robberies to call detectives at 312-747-8382.
