Two Killed, 14 Wounded Citywide Since Monday

CHICAGO — Two people were killed and 14 more were wounded in shootings across the city since Monday.

A 32-year-old man was shot to death in Englewood around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday. Early Monday, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot and a 17-year-old was wounded in a shooting in Back of the Yards.

The most violent incident wounded three women and a man outside a business in South Shore around 10:40 p.m. The four were outside the business in the 6700 block of South Stony Island Avenue when someone in a small white car opened fire, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.

A 16-year-old girl was shot in her leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, a 22-year-old woman taken to Northwestern Hospital after being shot in her neck, an 18-year-old woman was also grazed in the stomach but refused medical attention, and a 26-year-old man was shot in her leg and taken to Stroger. All of the victims are in stable condition, Gaines said.

The most recent shooting occurred around 3:35 a.m. Tuesday in the first block of South Leamington Avenue in South Austin during an armed robbery. The thief shot a man in the leg before taking money out of the man's pockets. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Gaines said.

In other non-fatal shootings Monday:

• Around 9:18 p.m. Monday, a woman was accidentally shot in her head in Englewood.

• Around 5:45 p.m., a 20-year-old man was grazed in the back of his head while standing in the 200 block of West 104th Place in Roseland. The man was taken to Christ in good condition, Gaines said.

• A 17-year-old was shot in serious condition at Stroger after he was shot in his back. He was in the 5400 block of South Halsted Street in New City around 11:15 a.m. when he was shot, Gaines said.

• Around 8:50 a.m., a 31-year-old was shot while driving in his car in Humboldt Park.

• Around 2:20 a.m., a 24-year-old was shot by someone in a passing car in the 6500 block of South Drexel Avenue in Woodlawn.

• Four people were shot in two separate incidents in West Pullman and Greater Grand Crossing around 12:45 a.m. An 18-year-old woman was shot in her chest and a 31-year-old man was shot in his shoulder while in the 10200 block of South Perry Avenue. Both were taken to Christ in stable condition, Sedevic said.

Two men, 21 and 22, were in a car at a gas station in the 6600 block of South State Street when someone in a car fired at them. The 21-year-old man was in stable condition after being shot in his groin and the 22-year-old man was in good condition after being shot in his thigh. Both men were taken to St. Bernard Hospital, Sedevic said.
