CHICAGO — A 56-year-old woman was shot in her head after a gun was accidentally fired Monday night, police said.

Around 9:18 p.m. the woman was in the 5600 South Elizabeth Street when she was shot. She was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in fair condition, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
