CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man was killed in the city's Englewood neighborhood Monday evening, police said.

About 6:53 p.m., a 25-year-old man was in the 7100 block of South Green Street when a gunman inside a passing white-colored vehicle opened fire, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The vehicle then fled northbound on South Green Street.

The man was shot twice in his right leg and once in his side, Zala said. The 25-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said the man was a documented gang member. No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Monday night.

At least four people were wounded in shootings across the city since Monday morning.
