COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — An incensed man who had been drinking Four Loko malt liquor bit another man, tearing a "mouthful of flesh" from his arm at a Portage Park block party, prosecutors said.

Todd Grossman, 36, was yelling and throwing garbage cans around in the 4300 block of North Mason Avenue in view of several children when an off-duty police officer and his wife happened to pass by Sunday night, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said in court Monday.

The officer asked Grossman “what his issue was,” and Grossman shoved the officer’s wife, Scaduto said.

When the man identified himself as a Chicago Police officer, Grossman responded, “I don’t give a f--- if you are the police,” according to a police report.

Grossman then attacked the officer, hitting, scratching and biting as the cop tried to place him under arrest, according to the report.

Several bystanders stepped in to help the officer.

Grossman grabbed one of them, a 29-year-old man, and sunk his teeth into the man’s left arm, Scaduto said.

With “a mouthful of flesh,” Grossman bit down so hard he tore a hole in the man’s arm 4 inches long, 2 inches wide and 1 inch deep, Scaduto said.

According to a police report, Grossman had an open can of Four Loko at the time of the incident.

Grossman, of the 3200 block of North Wolcott Avenue, was ordered held on $200,000 bail Monday.

He faces charges of aggravated battery, battery and resisting arrest.
