Two Dead, 11 Wounded in Overnight Shootings

CHICAGO — Two people are dead and 11 others were wounded in shootings overnight, including Jaquan Hardy, 21, who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Austin that left four others wounded.

A 24-year-old man was also fatally shot and another man was injured after a shooting in a Brighton Park bar Sunday morning.

In the most recent non-fatal shooting, a 26-year-old man was shot in the 1600 block of North Kedzie Avenue in Logan Square at 10:15 p.m. Saturday. The man drove himself to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition stabilized after being shot in the shoulder, said officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.

In other shootings overnight:

• Around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and buttocks while standing in the 5600 block of West Division Street in Austin. He was taken to Loretto Hospital in stable condition, Alfaro said.

• About five minutes earlier, a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were shot while pumping gas at a gas station in the 5200 block of West Addison Street in Austin. The man was shot in his right thigh and the woman was shot in her left hand. They were in stable condition at West Suburban Hospital, Alfaro said.

• Around 1:35 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot while seated in the back of a car in the 3600 block of South California Avenue in McKinley Park. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital after being shot in his shoulder. The man was a documented gang member, Alfaro said.

• Five minutes earlier, a woman was shot in her stomach in the 4400 block of South Prairie Avenue in Grand Boulevard. She was in stable condition and further information was not available, Alfaro said.
