UPTOWN — Do recollections of 1990s hip-hop get you all misty-eyed? Does the current state of the genre get you heated?

Don't fret: Fans of '90s hip-hop can see two notable acts from that era in Uptown later this month when a pair of popular hip-hop collectives from Los Angeles, Jurassic 5 and Dilated Peoples, hit the stage at the Aragon Ballroom, 1107 W. Lawrence Ave.

Jurassic 5, formed in 1993 and known for hits such as "What's Golden," "World of Entertainment" and "High Fidelity," broke up in 2007 but is back on the scene for the Word of Mouth Reunion Tour that will stop at the Aragon on July 25 for its Chicago leg.

Jurassic 5 is bringing the Dilated Peoples along for the ride.

The group hasn't enjoyed much mainstream success since debuting in 1992, but they still hold a position as one of the venerable darlings of underground hip-hop with hits like "Third Degree," "Worst Come to Worst" and the Kanye West-assisted "This Way."

Dilated Peoples' new album, "Directors of Photography," is scheduled for an Aug. 12 release.
